Good news for Google Stadia users: Around a year and a half after its publication, the streaming service is finally getting a search function.
However, the new feature caused numerous malicious comments and negative reactions – also because the streaming service casually leaked upcoming titles for its platform.
Search engine provider implements search function
Until now, anyone who wanted to search specifically for games in the Google Stadia Store had to be patient: There it was no search function yet there, you first had to laboriously navigate through various categories such as offers or genres.
The best alternative so far has been to display the list of all the games on Stadia and then use the browser’s text search. With the new search function, which, according to Google, is currently being implemented in the web version, this will of course no longer be necessary.
Announcement causes malice
With the announcement of the new feature, however, Google made a mistake: Until now, many players were not even aware that the streaming service did not even have a search function – even though Google is well known as the search engine provider.
Numerous players take the opportunity to make fun of this curious circumstance. For example, the game developer Rami Ismail writes:
“It’s great that this gigantic corporation, which is solely concerned with searching, after almost a year and a half in which entire game studios have been shut down and fired, […] has integrated a search function into its service. “”
Ismail is alluding to the fact that Google closed an entire Stadia development studio in February 2021 before the first game was even released.

“Comedians will have had a career without ever posting something as fun as this tweet.”

Industry expert Daniel Ahmad noted that Google leaked two upcoming games for Stadia in its announcement, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

There were also negative comments on Reddit. KingBroly makes fun of the little games catalog:
“So now you finally have enough games to make a search?”
Other new features
Again Blog entry about the new Stadia version shows, the new search bar is not the only new feature that users of the streaming service can look forward to.
The user interface is updated, so that your game library is now much clearer. In the coming days you will be able to see more quickly whether a game was bought by you there, is a Free2Play title or has landed in your collection as part of the Pro subscription.
Many more innovations are to follow in the future: Google is currently planning to include an activity feed so that you can share screenshots and gameplay clips and see what your friends have recently played.
