With the launch of the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and its screen with mini-LED technology (not available on the 11-inch iPad Pro), Apple was forced to launch a new version of the Magic Keyboard, since by increasing the size of the device by 0.5 mm, this it does not integrate perfectly with the 1st generation Magic Keyboard.

Being a device that costs 400 dollars, many users have expressed their embarrassment about it, because if they plan to renew their old iPad Pro by taking advantage of the Magic Keyboard launched by Apple last year, it would also be necessary to renew the keyboard if you want it to fit and close perfectly.

Some media bet that Apple could launch a reduction program for all the users who bought the first model of this keyboard for their iPad if they compared the new model of iPad Pro with the keyboard.

However, it seems that Apple is not for work and washes its hands. Of course, on the Magic Keyboard US support page (in the Spanish version at the time of this article’s publication, this information does not appear), Apple wanted to clarify that they are compatible, although with a but:

The first generation Magic Keyboard (A1998) is functionally compatible with the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th generation) with Liquid Retina XDR display. Due to the slightly thicker dimensions of this new iPad Pro, the Magic Keyboard may not fit precisely when closed, especially when screen protectors are applied.

With the renewal of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple took the opportunity to add a new version in white, version which has the same price as the black model. From today it is possible to pre-order both the new iPad Pro and the new Magic Keyboard.
