IO Interactive: Rumor: Hitman developers are working on fantasy game

developers, Fantasy, game, HITMAN, Interactive, Rumor, working

We know that Hitman developers IO Interactive are working on a James Bond game with the working title Project 007. Apparently, the studio seems to have another iron in the fire and that’s going in a completely different direction.

According to a report from Windows Central, IO Interactive is still working on another AAA project that is still in an early stage of development and will be years away from a release. This is apparently a new fantasy brand that is being developed for Xbox and Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios. We are talking about an extensive, medieval world including dragons.

That doesn’t sound entirely unlikely. It has long been known that IO Interactive is working on another project and the Eurogamer sources confirm this. IO boss Hakan Abrak had already confirmed this himself: “Without going into too much detail, we have a third universe that we’re working actively on, which is a bit different and absolutely a love child.”

So you can be curious. At the supposedly early stage, however, we are still a long way from an announcement. After the successful release of Hitman 3, IO is already quite perky. The developer plans, among other things, to open a third studio in Barcelona, and Abrak had already indicated that IO would not only want to look after its own games as a publisher in the future, although it is very likely that one of the IO games will be published by someone else. It could be that third project. We will see.

The fact that IO Interactive is currently strengthens staff in leading positions for a previously unannounced AAA title. Interestingly, a gameplay director and a game designer for a multiplayer title are also being sought there.
