The Cyberpunk 2077 cold shower has been expected for a number of years as the messiah who will end up with the class of a whole generation of machines. It will undoubtedly have been inversely proportional to the expectations of the players. Despite a widespread release and an illico Presto withdrawal from the PlayStation Store, CD Projekt RED executives could rub their hands in the face of juicy bonuses ahead.

In January, the very knowledgeable Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier lifted the opaque veil over the development of Cyberpunk 2077, based on condensed deadlines and other decisions made despite repeated warnings from developers against common sense. If this attitude had cost them many officials, the most famous Polish studio in the industry doesn’t seem to be in the same league as the common man.

Father Schreier can now reveal the amount of bonuses that the various members of the development team have received. : With 13 million copies in ten days, it will rain near Warszawa Zlotys. As a reminder, the company announced that it would be abandoning its bonus system based on a game’s metascore. For now, some would say.
Nevertheless, Iwiński and Adam Kiciński, the two co-directors of the studio, each received the tidy sum of 5.2 million dollars. Adam Badowski, the game’s director who is also a member of the board of directors, will pocket 3.5 million dollars. The Bloomberg article states that these amounts depend primarily on the profits recorded by CD Projekt RED, which increased more than 500% in 2020.
When asked about these amounts during a conference call, Kiciński wanted to put it into perspective:
We made this money, the company made this money. Bigger wins mean bigger bonuses. We got good results, so we get good bonuses: this is the contract we signed.
If the communicators of the studio have indicated that the approximately 865 employees share a budget of 24.6 million dollarsfor an average of 28,000 dollars per person, or roughly as much as the five members of the board of directors. Developers surveyed by Schreier mention amounts between 4,100 and 7,500 dollars for the most recently hired trucks and up to 16,500 dollars for vans.
And Cyberpunk 2077 has not yet been the subject of many patches and versions of the new generation that have earned the name, a multiplayer mode is still in the boxes of CD Projekt RED, however not really a top priority on their shopping list.
