On Mac we can have more than one user, so switching between them efficiently is essential so that the user experience is as comfortable as possible. Therefore, we can activate a button in the menu bar to make the changes. In macOS Big Sur, we have another option: the Control Center. Ideal for keeping the bar as clear as possible and being able to switch users comfortably.
Menu, text, button and control center
Until macOS Big Sur, we only had one option to switch users on our Mac. Leaving aside the Apple menu, we could display a new menu in the menu bar, now with the new operating system we can move this option to the control center. Let’s see how to do it.
- We touch the Apple menu () and choose System Preferences.
- We entered Dock and menu bar.
- In the left sidebar we select Fast user switching.
- We activate the option Show in Control Center.
We will see that a new button appears at the bottom of the Control Center. A single click shows us a menu like the following, where we can choose the user we want to use
Of course, we can also display this button in the menu bar, if we want. To do this, simply activate the option Show in menu bar in the fourth step. In this case, let us remember that we can choose between seeing the button as an icon, showing the account name or full name
- We touch the Apple menu () and choose System Preferences.
- We entered Users and groups.
- We touch Connection options.
- Near Show user quick edit menu as we choose one of the three options.
Easy no? The truth is that the arrival of the Control Center in macOS Big Sur has made it possible to simplify the interface in general and especially that of the menu bar. The ability to consolidate functions and features in one place of reference is certainly a great idea.
