Unsurprisingly, PC players have figured out how to unlock the demo time limit for “Resident Evil Village”.
This Resident Evil Village The demo finally came to PC on the weekend. The demo program is available on Steam and consists of two parts, one in the village of the same name and the other in the castle.
Just like on other platforms, the “Resident Evil Village” demo can only be played for a total of one hour. It is also always online, so you cannot easily bypass this restriction-“easy” is a valid word here. This is because no one was surprised, someone figured out how to reset the timer.
On the Steam forum, Leaves users detailed a step-by-step process that will reset your timer each time. Essentially, this includes making Steam think you haven’t played the game, which basically forces it to create a new save and start from scratch.
The downside is that after the one-hour limit is used up, you must perform this process every time you want to play. Since the process involves deleting saved content, you also need to re-adjust various settings of the game. That is, you can back up “data00-1.bin” (located in the directory below) and paste it into the same folder every time you perform the steps to maintain the selected settings.
- Disable steam cloud for the “Resident Evil Village” demo.
- Download Steam SAM (Steam Achievement Manager).
- Delete locally saved files (located at: Steam userdata
1541780 remote win64_save ). - Launch Steam SAM and select the “Resident Evil Village” demo.
- Delete achievements and statistics, confirm.
Capcom recently listened to player feedback and decided to extend the demo to May 9. Please note that this only means that you have more time to play it, but it is still limited to save one hour each time.
It’s also worth noting that although you can reset the timer, the demo content is very limited, and you will not be able to access anything that is not included in the demo.
