There aren’t many tech brands that focus solely on the smartwatch industry. One of these is Amazfit, which has one of the most segmented catalogs on the market, as we have already commented on several occasions.
Today we present to you the analysis of one of the most special products, the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini, a cheaper and simpler variant of the Amazfit GTS 2 which we analyzed a few weeks ago.

Construction and design
One of the peculiarities of this watch is that it is small and very lightweight. Unlike its older brother, it is made in Plastic and it shows when it comes to wearing it. The touch is not bad, but it does not convey the same feeling as the other watches of the brand. Well yes, it actually reminds more of the Amazfit Bip U Pro than the GTS 2. It is normal, also the price is closer to the first than to the second.
What also catches the eye are the colors, as there are several different models and the one we analyzed in aqua green is both stylish and youthful. It’s curious.
The crown is silver on top and the same color as the bottom strap, where the heart rate sensor is located. On the right side we have a single button.
The screen size is another of the distinguishing elements and is that although on paper these 1.55 inches look very similar to those of other watches, the reality is that its size is insufficient. Well, it’s small, because the grace of this watch is that it’s perfect for people who are looking for a device that doesn’t involve carrying a large device in their hand.
Some major drawbacks
The difference in size and material did not surprise us, after all we are dealing with a watch that does not reach 80 dollars. What we didn’t like was the lack of certain functions.
On the one hand, we don’t have the ability to make or receive calls, which is normal in this price range. Other, you can only send two faces to the watch, which along with two others that are still in the same assume a ridiculous number of storage design options.
Being able to change the cover is key in this type of device and only being able to store four of them does not seem acceptable to us. Not that we expected to be able to store music on the watch, which isn’t possible, but the amount of memory needed to store more screen layouts shouldn’t be an issue.
On the other hand, the speed at which the screen turns on is very low, almost a second. Of course, at least we have an always-on screen, albeit with a very simple aesthetic, which doesn’t make it look like the watch, although it does help control energy expenditure.
Typical sports-related functions
Regarding the use options that we have with this watch, we can count those expected, such as the measurement of steps, heart rate, estimation of oxygen saturation in the blood …
We can also control music playback from the clock as well as set alarms or view the time.
The button gives us access to all applications and if we keep it pressed we can activate a specific application, being a kind of direct access.
The interface is the one we already know from these watches, with the notification area if you slide from the bottom, the settings from the top and on the right side the exercise cards, heart rate, oxygen saturation, stress …
The novelty is that on the left side we have Alexa, although at the moment it does not work in Spanish, only in English. We assume that it will be updated soon as the company released such an update for the Amazfit Band 5 a few days ago.
Autonomy
This watch promises two weeks of battery life, which is almost the norm for this type of watch.
However, our analysis yielded somewhat smaller figures. A little over a week is the time we have been away from the charger, between 8 and 10 days. It makes sense if we take into account the size of the device, the battery that suits it, but we do not understand why they advertise a much greater autonomy.
And we’re talking about normal use with notifications and call alerts, but without having the screen option always on at all times, only half of that long week of use.
Conclusion: small and inexpensive, but that’s it
This watch is a somewhat risky bet of the company. It is neither one of the most basic watches or bracelets, nor one of the most complete.
Seeks to offer an alternative to those who want a nice watch, not very expensive, and with the basic functions, but it is insufficient if we look for more. Maybe it’s a nomenclature issue, and it’s that we expected more from a GTS.
Despite this, being able to buy it for around 75 dollars may be a valid option for those who appreciate the design and size very much, but not the materials or the autonomy.
