The creators of the original left 4 Dead have a new zombie shooter, Back 4 blood, will be released this fall. The game will add complexity (and, the developers hope, replayability) of the game left 4 DeadThe formula with an additional card system that focuses on customizing the game.
As in a new YouTube video, every run of Back 4 blood is powered by what developer Turtle Rock calls the Game Director (left 4 DeadThe version of this system was called AI Director. Back 4 bloodThe Game Director plays his own cards, which can be used to change the environmental conditions (e.g. in the event of a blackout), add challenges and send special enemies such as armored or flaming zombies. The video shows the Game Director throwing mutations like the Hag and Armored Tall Boys at players, adding to the difficulty. During the game, the Game Director works behind the scenes to oversee the actions, health, and choices of players, making each playthrough unique.
Players have their own cards to play with. According to Turtle Rock, there will be pre-built decks and “extensive customizations” through cards, so players can choose between character benefits (e.g. infinite secondary ammunition, health from Molotov cocktail kills) and buffs they have earned through gameplay. The developer promises “Tons of Different Cards You Can Earn” by addressing optional challenges and objectives.

Back 4 blood comes to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X on October 12th after a brief delay.
