Nintendo is released Game Builder Garage, a new game that allows gamers to create their own games for Nintendo Switch on June 11th, the company announced on Wednesday. To like WarioWare DIY, Super Mario Makerand before it, Nintendo Labo, Nintendo’s next foray into do-it-yourself game development, offers amateur game makers a colorful, easy-to-understand set of visual tools to program their own software.
Game Builder Garage will teach players how to create their own game by giving them “fun, guided lessons that cover the basics of visual game programming,” Nintendo said in a press release, “No previous experience is required.” Players will interact with creatures called Nodon to create their games. Nodon are creatures with great personalities that you can use to build your games from the ground up. There are dozens of Nodon in Game Builder GarageEach has a unique function, and you can learn how to create games by connecting them in different ways. For example, you can create and move a human-like character with an analog stick by connecting Stick Nodon to Person Nodon! Learn the basics of game programming in a fun and intuitive way. You can also create a variety of different types of video games – from side scrolling platformer to kart racer to space blasters!
Game Builder Garage will provide a lesson mode where players can “learn the basic concept of visual programming in step-by-step, interactive lessons.” In the free programming mode, players turn these lessons into real games and can quickly switch between programming and playing their creations. Players can also share and download Game Builder Garage Creations “with friends and family over the Internet or over a local wireless connection.”
