“Do a kickflip!” Yes Yes Yes. How about this: “Build an elaborate Rube Golberg machine and then use it to perform what may be the worst trick ever!” Reddit user Skate3Tommy would likely read “Okay”.

In one Video Skate3Tommy was released today on the Xbox One subreddit and featured “the culmination of 13 years of play and dedication” in Skate 3. At face value, it’s a really cool use of Skate 3Course Creator. But it’s also a master class in patience, physics, and perfect timing.

The first 47 seconds play out much like the typical Rube Goldberg hijinks – you know, these devices that use physics to set up a chain reaction of unnecessary complexity to accomplish a simple task. Skate3Tommy rolls a huge ball over a tube. At this point he jumps off a ramp and knocks over some table-sized dominoes, causing another ball to roll over another set of tubes and ramps. If you’ve seen a Rube Goldberg video, you’ve seen things like this before. The rest, however, is … well, just see:

Yes. I know. Cancel this year’s X Games.

For those unsure of what exactly just happened, the Rube Goldberg apparatus culminates in landing the second ball on a seesaw that looks like a seesaw that sends a 20-foot rail into the air. Meanwhile, Skate3Tommy apparently dumped the clip off-screen, rolled down a large air ramp, and then emerged at the last moment to turn a frontside 270 into a board on the mid-air rail. Look at the timing it takes to pull this off, the mind puzzled. When a Reddit user asked how many tries it was taking, Skate3Tommy had a perhaps expected answer: “Too many lol.”

“We bow to Your Excellency,” wrote one Reddit user. “Damn legend,” wrote each other. A third thought it was “the greatest moment in gaming history”. The reactions to the video can largely be classified as awe, praise, or a mixture of both.

Even so, it is impossible to please everyone. One user replied (joking … probably), “Yes, but you can Hippie flip!? “
