Last week’s release, Hood: Outlaws and Legends appears to be a darker, multiplayer-focused take on the iconic world of Robin Hood, bringing together the folklore hero’s allies for high-octane PvPvE action. To celebrate the release of Hood: Outlaws and Legends, Sumo Newcastle and Focus Home Interactive have released a new trailer for the multiplayer title, showcasing more of their heroes in action and the series of heists they will undertake. The Ranger, The Hunter, The Mystic, and The Brawler each have their moment to shine, and the visuals highlight what makes the individual classes unique.
The Ranger, for example, is clearly a proficient ranged combatant with his trusty bow and arrow, firing hair-raising headshots at enemies for the duration of the promo. Meanwhile, The Hunter is shown to be a strong stealth class, knocking enemies out of the shadows and using his wrist-mounted crossbow in ranged fights.
The Mystic and The Brawler spend much of the showcase going head-to-head with the enemy, with the former wielding his flail as a powerful short-range melee weapon, as well as using his long range to attack opponents from afar. He is also shown using it to strangle a wandering guard as he sneaks towards a target. As for The Brawler, he seems like a typical heavy class, using a giant hammer to smash heads and using his strength to manhandle enemies. A section of the trailer shows him using his power to open passages during robberies, raising a door to allow his groupmates access to a castle.
In addition to showing more of the classes in action, the trailer generally shows some tense encounters between rival teams of outlaws, as players jostle over who will escape with the stolen loot accumulated during the heist. It appears to be a very different take on the timeless Robin Hood story, featuring plenty of hard-hitting combat, gruesome deaths, and competitive multiplayer action. The game is now officially available on current and next-gen consoles, as well as PC, and early reactions seem quite positive. It joins the range of notable 2021 releases vying for players’ attention throughout May, including Resident Evil Village, Biomutant, Subnautica: Sub-Zero, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, and Rust’s long-awaited leap to PS4 and Xbox One.
