The video game industry is constantly evolving, and we see that one of the business models that seems to be spreading from mobile phones is that of titles free-to-play, a category in which Ubisoft is very interested. Last February, in a response to one of its investors in the third quarter of its financial results, the CFO of the French company, Frederick Duguet, I affirm that Ubisoft It will “evolve” to increasingly invest in free titles that are available on all platforms and complement your paid experiences.
Well, we get the most interesting news related to Ubisoft and it is expected that the company’s largest franchises also have deliveries free-to-play. As shared, Ubisoft will continue to launch major paid games, but wants to “significantly expand the audience of our largest franchises”.
Here’s what the CFO said Frederick Duguet in a recent meeting with investors:
We have taken the time to learn from what we did last year with Hyper Scape. We are also learning with the launch that we will do in Roller Champions, we have been learning a lot with Brawlhalla which is growing rapidly, and we believe that now is the time to come with games free-to-play high quality in all of our largest franchises, on all platforms.
Therefore, everything seems to indicate that Ubisoft will focus on the model free-to-play in the next years. Plus, there’s more on the horizon too, with Roller champions that will reach almost all platforms, including Switch.
What do you think?
