Since the launch of the PS5 console last November, we’ve been delighted to hear all the amazing reviews and experiences about the DualSense Wireless Controller from the PlayStation community.
Today we are excited to present two new colors that will join the DualSense controller line from next month: Midnight Black and Cosmic Red. Midnight Black features two subtly different shades of black with light gray details to reflect the way we see space across the night sky, and Cosmic Red offers a striking black and red design inspired by the unique vibrant shades of red found in the cosmos.
This new color range will be available at participating retailers around the world from next month. The exact date varies by location, so check availability with your local retailers. Click here for more information on the new colors.
The DualSense controller marked a radical change from our previous controllers by offering innovative features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers *. Features weren’t the only notable transformation – the choice of bold, two-tone colors was also a big pivot compared to our previous controllers. As this is the first release of new colors for the DualSense controller, we asked Leo Cardoso and Satoshi Aoyagi from our design team to share additional information on the color choice and selection process:
“Our goal is to always find designs that will surprise and woo our fans, and these new colors are the result of an extensive selection process. We wanted the new controller colors to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and the PS5 console, so we designed the colors around the “ galaxy ” theme as it felt like a natural progression through compared to the original PS5 designs and accessories. ”

“Midnight black and cosmic red feature a subtle blue tint, which produces unique shades of red and black. A blue tint is also present in the original colors of the DualSense wireless controller, so the three colors complement each other well. The colors and details of the buttons on the controller have also been designed to complement the new colors.
