215inch, faster, iMac, Intel

The new Apple products presented at the last keynote will not reach the homes of the first customers until May 21, but some performance tests are already appearing on the Geekbench site as we have already seen in the case of the iPad Pro M1 . Now it’s the turn of the new iMac M1, and the results do not disappoint either.

Geekbench results reflect an average of up to 56% higher scores than the 21.5 “iMac with high-end Intel chip. And we’re probably talking about the 7-core GPU model, so the 8-core one should be a bit more powerful in graphics performance.

The perfect iMac for the vast majority

Here are the raw numbers compared to its predecessors:

We see that the iMac M1 achieves the highest single-core performance score, with a considerable increase also in multicore testing compared to the 21.5-inch Intel iMac. The only time it scores lower is in the multi-core test compared to the 27-inch iMac renewed last year, where the 10th gen Intel Core i7 wins.

Verdict: the new iMac M1 will delight the general and semi-professional user, while the most demanding experts will want to wait for an Apple Silicon chip improved over the M1 which will beat the most powerful Intel in performance and efficiency. The first videos with analysis should arrive next week.
