Spoilerwarnung: If you haven’t played through Mass Effect yet, this article contains slight story spoilers for you. So you read at your own risk!
A small step for the developers, but a big step for the Mass Effect fans: In Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Bioware has finally replaced the embarrassing stock photo that shows Tali’s face. Instead, in the remaster, it now looks like a quarian should look.
Tali fans can look forward to it
What was the problem in the original games? In Mass Effect 3 you have the first and only chance to see Tali’s face, which is usually hidden behind a protective mask. If you’ve entered into a romance with her, then she’ll give you a photo without a mask. Incidentally, this is only possible for male Shepards – or you wait until the corresponding mods also work in the remaster.
Many fans have been waiting full of excitement for their face to be revealed since Part 1. The disappointment was all the greater when a minimally edited stock photo was held under their noses:
Instead of a cool artwork, fans got to see an overexposed, clearly human woman whose only eyes and neck were changed somewhat uninspired. She also had long hair – which doesn’t fit the quarians’ design at all. How are they even under the helmet?
For many, this was a sign that the developers had made less effort in the last part of the series than in the previous part – an argument that came up again and again in the discussion about the end. The Outcry
But now, with some delay, Bioware is delivering what Tali lovers have been wanting for almost ten years. This is what the photo looks like in the Legendary Edition:

The facial features finally match the quarians shown in the extended cut of the finale (depending on which ending you choose. You can find all the options in our big plus guide to the most important decisions!). Some fans below the tweet are still disappointed that Tali looks quite human, but most are reconciled with the matter.

Other changes in the remaster: Even if the Legendary Edition is very cautious when it comes to content innovations, polished graphics and many comfort adjustments make the trilogy clearly better. You can find out more about this in our review.
