According to reports, Sony has a leading edge over Microsoft in terms of selling new game consoles.
According to the latest report from Ampere Analysis, Sony’s PlayStation 5 The console is leading so far Xbox Series X/S Sales for the first quarter of the calendar year.

Ampere revealed that as of the end of March, the standard PS5 and its digital version of its sibling products had sold 2.83 million units to consumers. This is more than twice the Xbox Series X/S sales (1.31 million units) so far.
In other words, Ampere analyst Piers Harding-Rolls pointed out that since both game console series are subject to supply constraints due to component shortages, it is difficult to clearly portray actual demand. In other words, customers may just be buying available products, and in the long run, this potential market does not necessarily mean that Sony will gain a higher market share.
Sony said last month that it had shipped 3.3 million PS5 consoles in the first quarter, which means that many devices are not sold to customers, but can be held by scalpers. Xbox no longer shares specific sales figures, so it is difficult to know there.
Indeed, both Sony and Microsoft are struggling with the shortage of key components, which prevents them from producing as many components as possible to meet demand. Sony believes that the stock issue will continue until 2022, while Microsoft is more optimistic.
