Red Dead Redemption 2: VR support thanks to a new mod

Attention fans of Red Dead Redemption 2: the creator of the REAL GTA 5 VR mod has now also released a mod that enables VR in Rockstar’s Wild West epic.

The REAL GTA 5 VR Mod had already caused quite a stir, after half a year of work the developer is now following it up. The new version 1.0.0 of the REAL VR Mod now offers support for Red Dead Redemption 2, so that you can experience the Wild West epic in a whole new way. The mod is currently still in the early access stage and will be further optimized. The mod is currently on the corresponding Patreon side and is very easy to install according to the developer.

According to the information there, the mod works with all important VR headsets and has been optimized for all common NVIDIA graphics cards. With AMD graphics cards, however, problems can arise; the modder did not have the opportunity to adapt the modification to AMD cards due to the scarcity.

In any case, there seems to be a lot of work behind the modification. As the developer describes, RDR2 is technically very different from GTA 5, so that a completely new framework had to be created, which ultimately ended in six months of full-time development – hence the Patreon page. The developer Luke Ross still has big plans, he is now toying with VR mods for Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

A few impressions of the VR Mod for Red Dead Redemption are available in the form of a 27-minute gameplay video:
