Now, No Man’s Sky has officially announced an exciting crossover with Mass Effect. The exciting news comes a week after the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which has seen immense success in both player counts and sales figures.
The No Man’s Sky / Mass Effect crossover will add Mass Effect’s legendary SSV Normandy SR1, but players will need to participate in a limited-time event to get the ship. The event will continue until May 31 and the update will also add a number of expedition mission content. The Normandy also includes a brilliant S rating, which is the best rating in the game. For players who add it to their fleet, they will be able to keep it forever even after the limited-time crossover ends.
Mass Effect may not exist canonically within the No Man’s Sky lore, but this is still a welcome addition to the game. It just so happens that crossovers are slowly becoming a staple in the industry, with games like Fortnite participating in crossovers with Marvel and DC. This also raises the question of whether fans can expect more crossovers in the future for No Man’s Sky. After all, franchises like Star Wars or Star Trek would make a lot of sense for the game, as they fit the tone and the genre.
This week has been especially exciting for No Man’s Sky after it was announced that the game’s virtual reality mode on PC will be among the first VR games to support Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS). All of this shows that Hello Games has continued to make great efforts to repair and strengthen the reputation of the game. At the 2020 Game Awards, No Man’s Sky received a respectable victory by taking home the best game in progress award. This August marks the fifth anniversary of No Man’s Sky, but developer Hello Games has already started celebrating when it released the new Companions update, and now, this crossover is something fans would never have expected, but it is a welcome update.
