WhatsApp is testing the function that will allow migrate WhatsApp chat history between iOS and Android expected in a future update. The rumored advancements of this migration were discovered by Wabetainfo, along with details of how it worked.
The update will transfer WhatsApp chat history between iOS and Android in a future update. This solves the “problem” in which a user was unable to restore chat history on a device that is not on the same operating system.
How migration works in WhatsApp
WhatsApp It already allows you to change the number while keeping the chats on the same platform, but so far it is not possible to restore chat history from iCloud to WhatsApp for Android, and WhatsApp for iOS cannot restore backup from Google Drive. According to images shared from Wabetainfo, WhatsApp has found a solution.
The solution shown in the images below demonstrates that migration of chat history from Android device to iOS or vice versa will only be possible when registering WhatsApp for the first time on a new device. And it’s clear with the message “You will not be able to transfer your chats later”, which is displayed when you start the account setup.
On the same screen, there is a button available with the question Transfer to another phone number?, which by pressing will allow the change of phone number starts automatically before you start migrating your chat history.
This feature is in development on WhatsApp for Android and iOS, and will be available in a future update, still undated. Depending on WhatsApp’s schedules, it could be very soon or in several months.
