Minecraft players on the PlayStation 4 have every reason to be happy, because even before tomorrow's "State of Play" has now been officially confirmed a rumor from the weekend: On the Sony console lands the Bedrock Edition of the game – and then brings finally cross- Play on the platform!
From tomorrow, December 10, the Bedrock edition of Minecraft on the PlayStation 4 should already be available and enable cross-play with other platforms. In concrete terms, PS4 owners can gamble with players on the Switch, Windows PC, Xbox One, iOS, Android and Gear VR together in the future – something that was simply not possible until now, because the PS4 version is rather backward compared to the other game versions was the perennial favorite.
Sony had in the past only slowly opened the topic of cross-play, but this finally made possible on the PS4. Minecraft will make use of it tomorrow as well. Epic's success story Fortnite has contributed to the opening up of the theme. Meanwhile, other big blockbusters such as Destiny 2 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare jumped on the bandwagon.
According to Kelsey Howard von Mojang, PS4 players will be able to transfer their purchases and progress to other platforms in the future. You can see a trailer for the new edition here.
