Blizzard revealed many new details about the upcoming “Overwatch 2”.
some Overwatch 2 Blizzard’s developers hosted a large Reddit AMA and discussed many topics with fans, covering everything from high-level design goals to very specific features.
One of the most surprising findings on AMA is that “Overwatch 2” will get a beta version. Most Blizzard games (of course those with multiplayer games as the main goal) require pre-release testing. Of course, this is a strategy that Blizzard has always adhered to, and Overwatch 2 is unlikely to change this strategy.
When asked if the upcoming shooter will release a Beta, technical director John Lafleur said: “Almost certainly, yes.” “If I know when, I won’t tell you. If I told you, I will Must kill you. But [game director Aaron Keller] Is our regular customer, so you can give it a try! “
One of the highlights of AMA is the need to increase the ping system. Since the launch of Apex Legends, almost every massively multiplayer game developer has either introduced its own ideas into the innovative system or has been asked by players to do so. Apex’s ping system allows strangers to communicate effectively without the need for a microphone, and Respawn’s implementation is still the most comprehensive, even after many attempts.
Therefore, it is not uncommon to suggest that Blizzard may be looking for a similar system for Overwatch 2. When asked about the ping system, game director Aaron Keller confirmed that its prototype already exists in Overwatch 2.
He said: “We definitely considered this.”
“Actually, we now have an internally operating prototype. Before we are used to announcing players, we will not develop the habit of making promises to players, and I will not break this tradition now (I will definitely be in this AMA Bragging at other times), but we are excited as a team and are solving current problems.”
Another popular question for multiplayer game developers is cross-game and cross-process. “Overwatch” does not currently support these two features, but Blizzard hinted in the AMA that you may only count on one of these two features in “Overwatch 2.”
Technical Director John Lafleur said: “We are very excited about the possibilities of cross-racing and cross-development, but today we have nothing to announce.”
“However, considering the additional complexity of cross-development, if we go this way, it may be the most meaningful to solve the cross-race first, and then explore progress as a potential additional element.”
Although there is no release date, or even a target, Blizzard has begun to disclose the developers of Overwatch 2. Of course, the developer has only recently demonstrated a few hours of PvP gameplay, revealing many changes including drops. The number of players is 5v5, and each team can only be limited to one.
