CD Projekt Red is reportedly struggling with the poor sales of Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 is not doing well and CDPR is struggling. A new financial report shows that they missed Q1 net profit expectations many times over.
Previous reports indicated that in 2077, Cyberpunk didn’t even sell 1 million copies in 2021. The reason for this is obviously the banishment of the role-playing game from Sony in the PlayStation Store. Cyberpunk 2077 has not been available on the PlayStation Store for over five months, although several patches have already been released.
According to a financial report (via reuters.com), CD Projekt’s net profit in the first quarter fell 64.7% to 32.5 million zlotys (approx. $ 8.87 million), falling short of expectations. CD Projekt Red justifies this with the company’s investments in Cyberpunk 2077 and other projects.
“The lower than usual net profitability is mainly due to the ongoing write-downs for the development of Cyberpunk 2077, work on updating the game and R&D activities related to future projects,” Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz said in a statement.
