The park is officially open! Super Animal Royale (Game Preview) invites you to pluck an animal, grab an umbrella, jump off the back of a giant eagle, and sail into the abandoned Super Animal World safari park for a fast-paced, hectic dose of combat for 64 players.
The Xbox One version offers cross-play matchmaking and cross-save with all other versions, so whether you are new to the island or one Super Animal Royale Veteran, you can take your animals with you wherever you play.
If you’re an Xbox Game Pass member, start your journey with this Founder’s Edition DLC free. Available only to early backers during the game’s Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access, the bundle includes three exclusive ones Super Animal Royale Races and 10 exclusive cosmetic items.
Today also marks the arrival of the Beach Party Animal Pass for those looking to outfit their super duck troop with life jackets. At the same time as a massive expansion of the island’s coastline, season 0.5 accessories will help you explore the new beaches in style.
Charming and dangerous
Super Animal RoyaleThe top-down 2D shoot, the fog-of-war system with line of sight and the colorful world set it apart from other games in the battle royale genre. Optimized controls make it easy to learn and six-minute matches make it less punishing. Still, the mechanics are surprisingly deep, and reaching the top of the food chain is no easy task.
To survive, you’ll need to explore the park’s abandoned attractions, frozen tundras, and scorching deserts to find weapons like submachine guns, bows, and sparrows, and banana peels. To conquer the ground faster, you can also hop into a hamster ball or ride on the back of a giant Emu tandem with your duo partner.
A fork in mode
In addition to the Battle Royale core mode, the team is also experimenting with new time-limited game modes that support teams of up to four players. In SAW vs Rebellion (32v32) you have to fight and win for either Super Animal World (SAW) or Super Animal Super Resistance (SASR), either by eliminating the entire opposing team or by capturing and defending more flags than your enemy. Captured flags also offer loot and a healing buff, so you’ll want to be strategic to hold them down.
In the second time-limited mode, the Mystery Mode, the typical Battle Royale set of rules is mixed between seven different variants. Modifiers include Wild West (cowboy hats, magnums and hunting rifles), Super Slow Bullets (50% speed for your best evasive moves), Bananarama (bananas as balls, banana rain and additional banana spawns) and One Hit Kill.
The whole superworld is a stage
What happened to Super Animal World? How did a family-friendly zoo become the stage for the most enchanting struggle of life and death? Clues to the park’s history are scattered around the map, with secrets to discover, NPCs to talk to, and Easter eggs to unlock between shootouts.
For even more of the twisted lore of Super Animal World, watch the accompanying animated series, “Super Animal Royale Tonight,” which follows the adventures of intrepid reporters Donk Patrick and Howl Michaels as they defy incessant attacks by the SASR, to bring you the best gameplay highlights submitted by the community.
