Gucci now also wants to reach gamers – but not with real clothes, but with cosmetic items for the multiplayer game Roblox, which is mainly played by children.
Virtual handbag for 3,400 dollars
In case Roblox doesn’t tell you anything: This is an absurdly successful gaming platform in which players can program their own games and make them available to others. Basically all of these games are free, but of course you can also get your hard-earned cash for in Roblox cosmetic adjustments in the in-game store output. And that’s exactly where Gucci released some items for a short time at the end of May, such as handbags and sunglasses, which are modeled on real luxury items.
Even if you don’t necessarily think of high fashion when you think of the clunky avatars, the demand was huge – and it continues to be. The “Queen Bee Dionysus” bag is particularly popular with fashion-conscious gamers. However, the part was only available for an hour, so that by far not all interested parties could strike.

That is why the handbag is now being sold in rows on the in-game marketplace – and much more expensive than the original price of just under 5 dollars. The highest price that the bag with the bee has been able to achieve so far is US $ 4,115, or around 3.400 Euro. This made the virtual version a lot more expensive than the real version of the Dionysus bag, which was then sold for “only” 2,800 dollars.
In the meantime, however, the hype about the handbag has somewhat dissipated: The price is in the last few days Crashed to about 260 dollars. Whether one can speak of a bargain, however, remains a different question.
