Techland reveals that new content is coming to the Hellraid add-on for Dying Light, with The Prisoner DLC bringing a new story and improvements to the Raid mode.
Dying Light’s Hellraid DLC was initially released in August last year, bringing Techland’s canceled fantasy title to life as a new addition to the long-running zombie game. Feedback was mixed at the time, though many praised it for being a fun change of pace from the open-world action of undead slaughter that dominated Dying Light’s main campaign.
For those who enjoyed Hellraid’s gothic fantasy change, Techland recently announced that they’ll be getting more, with a new trailer posted on the franchise’s official YouTube channel announcing The Prisoner. The new piece of content will add new story missions to the Hellraid expansion and will be available for free via an update launching today on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
According to the clip’s description, the add-on will offer “new challenges to face, new areas to discover, and an ally who needs your help,” as players enter an ancient conflict in the Temple of Ba’al. They will be tasked with finding a character named Lucius and helping him fight Anat, landing a powerful new bow known as Corrupt Justice in the process. It looks like this update will be the first of many, and Techland promises to add more missions to the story in subsequent Dying Light updates.
It will also offer changes to the Raid mode, including visual and gameplay improvements, while a new skeleton enemy with a shield will join the fray. Beating the latter could even reward players with a new weapon if they are lucky, and the enemy will drop a newly added two-handed hammer called the Bonecruncher. If players can’t find the brutal addition to the game’s arsenal, they can also unlock it by reaching the new Vanquisher rank. The DLC seems to be a bit of extra fun for Dying Light fans and another reason to kick off last year’s Hellraid expansion.
Dying Light enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to this year, and Dying Light 2 is also slated to hit shelves later this fall. The long-awaited sequel recently had a big showcase on Twitch, with Techland revealing its match, free run, main factions, moral choice system, and much more. The broadcast also talked a lot about the game’s history, revealing that new protagonist Aiden Caldwell will have a checkered past, forcing him to venture into The City in search of answers. Along the way, you’ll come across a number of groups competing through the game’s zombie-infested streets, including an army of ex-cons called Renegades and a group of veteran survivors known as Nightrunners.
Dying Light is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
