Apple surprised us with the novelties of iOS 15 presented during WWDC 21. Among them, a useful function in the most desperate moment that a user can live with his iPhone. So, Apple announced that iOS 15 will allow you to find the iPhone even if it is turned off or has been restored.
With the Find My network, Apple can locate devices even after they have been turned off, a useful feature if a lost device is stolen and disabled or the battery of a lost device is low. With iOS 15, the iPhone will never be completely “powered off”, but instead remains in a low power state and acts like an AirTag, make any nearby iOS device pick up the bluetooth signal and send its location.

The functionality takes into account various probable situations when losing an iPhone. In this sense, a user can have the possibility of recovering their iPhone even a few hours after running out of battery. In fact, Apple says location tracking will continue to work as long as the phone is reset to factory settings with Activation Lock enabled.
By making it possible to find a refurbished iPhone, Apple is taking an additional security measure to ensure no one be tricked into buying a stolen device that is still locked to Apple ID. In this case, the home screen will clearly show that the iPhone is locked, located, and still belongs to someone else.
When the update is officially available for iPhone users who are compatible with iOS 15, Apple will inform about this option, via a message in a dialog box, when the device runs out of power for the first time.
