Studio MDHR announced almost two years ago that its award-winning and lauded Cuphead would be getting an animated series on Netflix and, as with the famous DLC, not many details are known. At least now we have a 30 second clip showing the quality of the show’s animation and, more importantly, confirming the presence of the Given King and who will be playing him.
It is Wayne Brady who is behind the voice of King Given. The African-American actor, comedian and singer has a very recognizable voice and is primarily known for his appearances on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Although he is currently producing and participating in Game of Talents. This was confirmed by Netflix in its YouTube channel, and the same actor sent a message to the fans.
Introducing the Given King
For his part, King Given is one of Cuphead’s main antagonists and, watch out for spoilers, the penultimate boss against Cuphead and Mugman must face off before facing the Devil himself. The Given King is the one who runs the casino in which many of the inhabitants gamble and lose all their money and hopes.

Based on initial details, Netflix will produce this series that we imagine will retell the story of the game, perhaps expanding a bit more on the history of this world. Without going any further, the teaser with the Given King already shows a facet of the character that we did not know and scenes never seen with different characters from this world.
Cuphead premiered in September 2017 to tremendous success, notably for its art style and soundtrack. The gameplay, a boss rush, drew attention because it was very difficult and because more than one player abandoned the title at the time. Since then the independent studio revealed that they were developing a DLC that has been delayed, as well as this show with Netflix that seems to be close to its premiere.
