At a past Square Enix digital event we got to know the third installment of the main saga of this series of popular graphic adventures. Let’s talk about everything we know about Life is Strange: True Colors, from its history and characters to its release date.
Remember that, unlike the previous installments in the series, this game is being developed by the Deck Nine studio and not by Dontnod.
What is the history Life is Strange: True Colors?
Our protagonist this time is Alex Chen, a young Asian-American who grew up in a foster home and is invited to the picturesque town of Haven Springs by her older brother, whom she has not seen in eight years. When Alex finally manages to settle into this new, peaceful life, his brother tragically dies in an alleged accident.
As in the previous titles of the saga, the protagonist of Life is Strange: True Colors has a supernatural ability. You can feel the emotions of others in the form of colored auras, denoting a deep red when it comes to rage or rage. This power will allow you to discover the truth about your brother’s death, but you must be careful, as these emotions can “infect” you.
Who are the characters in Life is Strange: True Colors?
- Alex Chen is the protagonist of the story. She is a young woman who had a difficult childhood and is trying to find a new life in Colorado with her brother. Because of his empathic powers, he puts the needs of others above his own.
- Gabe Chen is Alex’s brother. He was a juvenile delinquent who now found a new and pleasant life that he wants to share with his sister … until a tragedy strikes.
- Stephanie ‘Steph’ Gingrich is a character that we already knew from Life is Strange: Before the Storm. She is one of Alex’s potential romantic interests.
- Ryan Lucas He is an attractive and introverted Haven Springs resident. He is Alex’s other potential romantic interest.
The soundtrack of Life is Strange: True Colors
Music will play a very important role in the game. Alex will be quite talented on the guitar and can sing too. In the promotional material revealed so far we can hear her perform a cover from ‘Creep’ by Radiohead. Her voice is that of the singer Mxmtoon the Maia.

How will Alex’s powers work?
As we already said, Alex has empathic powers. Thanks to this, we can take a “look” at the emotions and thoughts of others. Doing this will allow us to unlock new dialogue options with certain characters.
If we find an especially strong aura, we can generate a “nova.” This is a supernatural flash that transforms Alex’s world into a reflection of that person’s emotions. Some of these emotions are so powerful that they can put lives at risk. We can manipulate these emotions with Alex’s powers, but we don’t know how they can affect other people or the protagonist herself.
