After watching “Avatar”, Disney was convinced that Massive was the right partner for the Star Wars game.

Reveal Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier The Ubisoft Forward is one of the most surprising moments of E3 2021. We know that this game has been in development for many years, but no one expects it to appear now.

Another thing most people may not realize is that “Avatar: Pandora Frontier” was also used to promote another game that The Division developer Massive wanted to make: Star Wars. This is according to Sean Chopto, senior vice president of Walt Disney Games, who told IGN that Disney had sold the studio’s capabilities when he saw Pandora’s border in action.

“After we acquired Fox, our first meeting with Massive on the Avatar game was indeed the starting point for the Star Wars game,” Shoptaw recalled.

“The team has such a consistent and creative enthusiasm around the “Star Wars” IP. This is just a natural evolution of the relationship and really contributed to the “Star Wars” game we announced not long ago.”

Large-scale development of Star Wars games, much like Pandora’s Frontier, will be an open world. Although Massive did not specifically exclude multiplayer games, the “Star Wars” project is positioned as a story-driven game-again, similar to Pandora’s Frontier.

As for why this game is an open world, Shoptaw explained that “Star Wars” lacks this style of game, and Disney wants to provide this style of game. Massive agreed, and the two got along well.

“Of course we have ambitions for open world Star Wars games,” he said. It is not entirely from Massive.

“Of course they are also so enthusiastic about it to make these conversations easier to move forward. But we know what you outlined, right? We know what fans have been asking and wanting for a long time.”

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. The Star Wars project has not yet released a target.
