GTA Online: these platforms will soon be over!

Gta, Online, platforms

The long-lived GTA Online is slowly coming to an end. The service will soon be discontinued, at least on these platforms.

At some point it’s over. With versions of GTA 5 in the pipeline for the current consoles, it was only a matter of time before Rockstar turned the tap on the online service GTA Online for the penultimate generation. As of December 16, 2021, it will no longer be possible to play online mode on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

In an official Blog-Post Rockstar Games says Rockstar Games is focused on launching GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. After all, the third generation of consoles for which the long-lasting game was released.

From September 15th it will no longer be possible to buy Shark Cash Cards through these platforms. The single player campaign of Grand Theft Auto 5 will of course not be affected by this measure. Due to technical limitations, no new online content has been published on the old consoles since 2015.

GTA Online was originally released on October 1, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The current-gen versions are planned for November 11.
