Over the years, Google Maps has changed and little by little it has come closer to our idea of a social network. However, the app never ceased to be a kind of virtual card that helped us to better reach our destination.
That’s why news like the one now arriving in Europe is welcome. Maps of our country already show the position of traffic lights on highways.
Traffic light icons on Google Maps
After updating the application we will see how in the normal planimetry, although they also appear if we activate the relief interface or satellite photography, we will see the icon of a traffic light wherever it there is one.
It is important to note that this is used to know where one of these objects will be found, but not knowing if they are green or red. Of course, we can turn on the traffic layer to find out if an area is slower because of them.
Also, we will have to zoom in a bit, as we see in the image above, for them to appear on the map, something normal that happens with the other icons in the app.
A taste of what’s to come
This inclusion leaves us waiting for another novelty which was announced recently but which we still do not have in Europe: zebra crossings.
It is clear that Google wants to include as many real elements as possible in the layers of the Google Maps interface to make it easier and more useful to use the service.
