The draft is complete, the training camp begins, and the NFL season is just around the corner. As rookie QBs dissect playbooks to earn a place to start, you’re closer to getting back on your feet and improving your defenses in Madden NFL 22, starts on August 20th. This year Driving me crazy features both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes triumphantly returning to the cover after their Super Bowl LV fight. As you head out on your own Super Bowl run, you’ll see new features and improvements across the board.
The match day makes the difference
This time around, the stadium experience is brought straight to you as the home crowd can swing the momentum of every game. Each stadium offers a unique atmosphere for rattling opponents: on major third downs in Seattle, the crowd chaos will disrupt your pre-snap reading, and in Chicago there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself looking at a long list of kickers at a critical moment threw a seemingly simple chip straight out of the post. But any team can change the course of a game with brand new momentum factors. Grab an interception at the right time, or fight off a defender straight into the ground for a big run to see your new swing knife elevate and unlock a special boost for your team.
Franchise is being revised
The EA team listened to community feedback and requested a deeper, more realistic franchise experience. Now you not only control your head coach, but can also build up your coaching tree with an offensive and defensive coordinator as well as a player personnel department to put together your perfect team. The weekly planning has also been adjusted; With next-gen stats and AI, you can create a game plan that is truly tailored to your opponent – plan accordingly for Josh Allen to throw the ball down almost every time, or prepare your Front-7 for the strong-running attack of the Ravens in front. And at the height of a championship season, you can also expect a new post-Super Bowl win montage this year, though it remains unknown whether the victorious quarterback tosses the Lombardi Trophy from boat to boat in celebration. The franchise will continue to be updated as the season progresses, starting with a revamped NFL draft scouting system so you can unlock the next Marques Colston or Rodney Harrison.
A more realistic on-site experience
It’s an ever-evolving process, but this year promises to be big improvements in the way players interact on the field. With Next Gen Stats, players present a more lifelike version of themselves and evolve as the season progresses. You can play off these tendencies now and even make mid-term adjustments as you learn more about your opponent. It’s all improved with new player movements, from tackle animations to the receivers fighting for the ball against corners. A new tackling system takes player size and characteristics into account, so that a larger back pulls the defenders straight into the end zone before going down, while a smaller, faster back can be stopped by a larger linebacker if hit.
In addition to all of this, Madden Ultimate Team, Face of the Franchise, and The Yard return with more information on each in the weeks leading up to its release. You can be sure that we will provide you with further information if possible. Madness 22 will be released on August 20th for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC. See you in the field!
