It’s now been a few days since E3 ended and the team has had time to digest all of these announcements. Today we are going to take stock of those who have shaped us the most. Of course, given the more than extensive content of the Xbox + Bethesda showcase, the lack of certain titles shouldn’t surprise us! We’ll start right away A plague story: Requiemthat has conquered many people.
A plague story: Requiem (Mich_t)
We knew a second episode was in development. But finally having something concrete gave me a very special pleasure. The first opus is a real crush. In its narration, its staging, its simply stunning artistic direction and its extraordinary soundtrack A plague story: innocence is a milestone for me in many ways. Some of the footage stuck in my mind for months after the game ended.
The simple and intuitive game mechanics were also perfectly placed at the service of the story. When I saw the faces of Hugo and Amicia on the screen, I couldn’t contain my enthusiasm. And see that too A plague story: Requiem will be available in Xbox Game Pass from day one, that’s the icing on the cake. We can’t wait to see what Asobo has in store for us and look forward to 2022!
Sea of Thieves: The Life of a Pirate (Nico)
One of the most unexpected announcements from this conference comes from a game that was released over 3 years ago. Rare has shown us once again that it is still possible to work on a game in the utmost secrecy even today. And who would have thought that a free DLC could be one of the flagship announcements of an E3 conference?
For all its qualities, Sea of Thieves suffers from a complex universe that is difficult to access for new players. What better way to attract gamers than partnering with Disney for content with a glossy script and staging? Enough to experience a rhythmic and action-packed pirate adventure. I’m glad !
A plague story: Requiem (Ashaika)
What can I say about this announcement? After a first work that had both bewitched me by the beauty of its story and terrified by the constant threat, the return of Amicia and Hugo on video made me jump for joy. Yes A plague story: innocence
The rat hordes seem even more detailed than before and Amicia seems ready to fight, a far cry from the frightened girl from the first game. I can only say one thing about this game: In-RAT-capable! Besides, it’s day one on Xbox Game Pass, what are people asking about?
Star field (Kentarus)
How can I not speak of the title I’ve been looking for the smallest news since its presentation? Star field, which was the first game presented during the Xbox Games Showcase, surprised me from the first few seconds. At the same time, he awakened my love for unknown worlds and role-playing games. He intrigued me during his two minute presentation.
So yeah, in the end we didn’t see anything from the game, so yeah, the exit is also as far away as several rocket trips to the moon. But the title continues to make me dream and will undoubtedly continue to do so by 2022. A swarm amplified by the discovery of its graphics engine that certainly promises to come from another galaxy. Strong! Thank you Bethesda!
Forza Horizon 5 (Frank1707)
This year Xbox and Bethesda gave us a high quality show. But if there is one announcement that particularly impressed me that evening, it was the official one Forza Horizon 5. For several weeks, eagerly awaited, I, like many gamers, was impatient to finally be fixated on the next part of Playground Games’ open-world automobile saga. When I saw cacti in the first pictures of the announcement trailer, I immediately understood that it was the official presentation of the game, which was confirmed a few seconds later with the preview of the Mercedes-AMG Project One.
Additionally, we were treated to several gameplay sequences that showed the full scope of the work for this new work. Overall, I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and richness of the settings. The quality of her modeling is absolutely overwhelming and the visual effects are sensational. The least we can say is that Playground Games and Xbox did a remarkable job, even if it was eagerly awaited. Forza Horizon 5 is therefore definitely one of the most anticipated games this year. Roll on November 9th!
Slime rancher 2 (Jess Bond)
If there is a game that was completely unknown to me a few months ago, I would say without hesitation Slime rancher. Since it was on my to-do list, I started it with no expectations whatsoever and I have to tell you that it is one of my favorite games this year. So imagine my joy when the second part was announced at the conference! I made it my favorite last month because I have to say the farm management + exploration cocktail worked perfectly for me.
The world is big, the different types of slime are in abundance and everything around us needs to be thoroughly explored. In the trailer for the second opus, there is no doubt that the title will feature new creatures, new tools for the farm, and a more than rich world! My only real expectation is a cooperative mode, which was clearly missing in the first opus and there I will be completely satisfied!
Another point, of course, I couldn’t talk about the E3 without mentioning it Halo infinite. I admit that I was pretty disappointed not to have had a more detailed look at the solo content. However, we did have a more in-depth recap of the multiplayer part that may bring me in line with the license. Dynamic at will with its gameplay and some welcome novelties like the ability to salvage a weapon with the grappling hook, I admit I love it!
STALKER 2 (Niko1664)
Of all the games that I honed to the limit on the PC back then, the first STALKER remains one of those I value most. The post-apocalyptic atmosphere, the stress that grabs you as soon as you enter the “zone” by bribing a security guard or taking a side path, gave the title a very special note.
STALKER 2 Of all the recent announcements, remains the one I’m waiting for the most (yes yes, even before FH5 and Halo infinite). Pulling the nuts out of the shell and throwing them around you so as not to get caught in an almost invisible radioactive anomaly, as we see at the beginning of the trailer, is delightful. It’s like walking through a minefield. Beware or end up like the mutated creature in the trailer!
In love with the novels of Dmitri Glukhovski (Metro 2033…) What uses a little of this modern Ukrainian mythology of the “stalker” is a universe that I have missed since the first episode on the PC and that I wait with great impatience to be able to immerse myself in again.
Hades (JiTeuBey)
This E3 2021 was really rich in announcements on the part of Microsoft. I expect a lot Star field, Forza Horizon 5 or A plague story: Requiem, all cited above. But when it came to indie games, there were a lot of things I liked, especially the arrival of Hades on the Xbox. I try to know as little as possible about this title so as not to spoil my joy of discovery. Despite all of the rave reviews, the roguelite site, and its very careful artistic direction, I think I will have a hell of a good time August 13th!
We must also welcome its presence in Game Pass on the day of its launch, as well as 27 of the other out of 30 games featured. If there was still any doubt, this service has now become indispensable. Well done Microsoft.
Elden ring (JSam)
While this E3 won’t have been the most noticeable in terms of announcements and the absenteeism could be felt, it would still be a lie to say that this issue was stingy on games. And for my part, THE title that brought me back even though I’ve never touched a game by its creators, it is Elden ring (well, ok, I admit it wasn’t announced at E3, but at the Summer Game Fest, but good Geoff didn’t seem too sure of himself either). First of all for his atypical collaboration with George RR Martin, which makes me quite curious about how the universe and the narrative come about.
But also and above all to see how From Software will use the open world. Because from those who reinvented level design, thanks Dark souls, we have the right to make the same demands on what they will do with the open world. Indeed, it’s an element that is sometimes misused and consistently used in too many games, but here, we hope, with ingenuity as in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild recently.
So in fact, a lot are waiting for it Elden ring but also a lot of curiosity about what it will offer us. Cant wait to battle giant monsters wearing a simple loincloth and armed with a small sword on January 21st, 2022 Dark souls and Axe.
REPLACED (Fabulous!)
What a blow! I barely had time to recover from the hair-raising trailerAtomic heartThat another bomb hit my heart Not without remembering a specific one The last night in the shape, REPLACED It also takes pixel art to a new dimension. Everything in 2.5D, the title offers an absolutely excellent rendering with divine lighting effects and a retro-futuristic atmosphere of the most beautiful effect. Better still, the developers at Sad Cat Studios and Coat Sink manage to redefine the action platform thanks to a staging and extremely dynamic camera movements. The scenography is insane, as is the choreography of the characters facing each other in close combat.
It can only be hoped that the dystopia we will get caught up in will keep its promises and that the story of an AI trapped in a human body will not be an easy pretext to crush everything in its path. But with a simple trailer, REPLACED to my full attention!
This brings us to the end of our overview of the noteworthy announcements of the past few weeks. And you ? What are your favorites and the games that you can’t wait to try out? Don’t hesitate to tell us everything in the comments! We’ll meet for a new column at the end of the month!
