Given the lack of next-gen games, GSC’s Ukrainian title made a strong impression. But since the game is primarily an RPG, the developers wanted to explain to us in more detail what we can see on the screen. The studio has therefore put a trailer online in which we can learn a lot about the new elements that will be introduced in STALKER 2.
The video begins with a fight in the chemical plant in which we encounter bandits (one of the factions of the game), which allows us to see one of the proposed new features: the modification of weapons that steal. You don’t have to go through inventory to change your sights or put on a silencer, from now on our weapon will adapt to the circumstances without interrupting the action, which is a standard plus for immersion. Better still, the developers even assure that they have submitted a little teaser regarding a new faction that would move into the game, but nothing more is mentioned, GSC Game Worlds wants to test the acumen of its community.
Mrs. Irma
In our opinion, the clue is the label on the wall (when Ski, the hero, puts a silencer on his weapon), which reads Братве по масти, варте по пасти, or roughly speaking, the fat brothers who guards in pt in French . We can therefore imagine that the guards (Varta in the original, but I’m not sure of this translation) are the new faction in question and that it could be stalkers playing the role of police in the area, or hatred of them Bandits.
After the fight, the other big activity of the series awaits: the hunt for artifacts. These objects, which we will conceal in the heart of dangerous physical phenomena (called anomalies), are very useful for increasing the skills of our heroes, or simply because of their immense market value. We therefore find ourselves in the swamps (an area known to those who honed STAL.KER: Clear Sky) to collect a jelly with which we can continuously fill the stamina of our characters. To find the artifact, a new type of detector is used: the Gilka, which means branch in Ukrainian, and given the look of the machine, we understand why.
The next scene takes us to Chernobyl-2, a small military town 10 km south of Pripyat, which is particularly known for its huge DUGA-1 long-door radar. Here we discover a mlomaniac who makes us a few dance steps. Here the developers insist that the game will be filled with such encounters and that many NPCs will have a very elaborate story. This is not really a surprise as many characters have already been worked on intensively in the previous works, be it Ghost, Vano, Ashot, Strider, Uncle Yar or Lebedev, to name just a few.
Retinal fracture
Another highlight of the trailer is the fight against mutants, in which skif has to fight a bloodsucker. This is a particularly aggressive type of monster (but quite easy to kill) and when it is known we are promised new races that will surprise even the most demanding stalkers. The trailer then goes back to humans, and during the discussion with Stranger we can see the care in the characters’ facial animations. In addition to the classic motion capture session, the developers scan the actors’ faces with the technique of photogrammetry in order to obtain a larger-than-life result. We also see some of the animation work in this trailer like. To always impress us, the video takes us back to Chernobyl-1, at the foot of the DUGA-1 radar, where imposing lights run along its structure that allow us to see the care of the lights, all with a beautiful Gauss rifle in hand (the most powerful weapon in the game).
All of this eventually ends with a return to the campfire, which always signals a safe zone in the game, but this time we find Sergiy Grygorovych, the creator of the series, who personally wishes us a good hunt. The class! Remember, STALKER 2 Heart of Chernobyl will be released on April 28th on PC and Xbox Series X | S lands and is integrated directly into the gamepass.. On a hte!
