Krafton is expanding the universe of the successful Battle Royale title PUBG in other ways and today announced the relaunch of “Mysteries Unknown”. A live-action short film will also follow.
Today the starting shot has been given for another complete episode of “Mysteries Unknown” all about the PUBG universe. It is an investigative documentary series with Jonathan Frakes in the lead role. This in turn is known from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction”.
The new episode is called “Birth of the Battlegrounds” and for the first time shows Frakes in person as he researches the official story behind the fatal competition. Throughout the episode, Frakes has conversations with insiders and experts to explore the backstory behind the Battlegrounds, from their initial conception to their fatal development.
The latest video ties in with two earlier episodes in the series that reveal more secrets about the Battlegrounds. Mysteries Unknown: Tragedy at Dinoland uncovered the truth behind Dinoland while Mysteries Unknown: Paramo revealed the dark history of a plateau in Peru with some peculiarities.
On June 26th, the PUBG universe will be expanded again, because then the new live-action short film “Ground Zero” is on the agenda. The film with Don Lee (“Marvel Studios’ Eternals”, “Train To Busan”) in the lead role takes place in the PUBG universe and lets Lee play a notorious prisoner who tries to break out of the Hosan prison in Taego. The short film ties in directly to the story of the new Taego map, which will be launched for PUBG on July 7th on PC and on July 15th on consoles and is located in South Korea. It will be the first new 8×8 card since 2018.
