The creator of Minecraft is once again in the crosshairs of the Minecraft community of players for some comments regarding the identity of the game. We can assume that the comments stem from Notch’s rejection of Minecraft’s collaboration with Sonic, who has just arrived at the Mojang title in the form of a skin.

There were three tweets from Markus Persson, the first showed an image of Sonic in Minecraft and said “I’m not even going to apologize for that”, perhaps in reference to what he would say later. It was a few hours later when he commented “I’m not the one to talk about the dead but yes, Minecraft is somewhat dead.” The community has not taken this tweet well at all and they have begun to insult the creator of one of the most important games in the industry.

Notch is not contained

It is worth noting that shortly after he qualified his words a bit by stating that there is no problem if Minecraft “is still alive for you”, since for him Rocket Arena 3 (a Quake mod) is still alive. However, the damage was already done and we can see how the vast majority of comments are quite serious insults towards Notch.

Most of the responses focus on her transphobic words from 2014 when she compared a trans woman and her condition to that of having a mental illness. It has rained a lot since then but the internet does not forgive, although it is worth noting that there is no record that Notch has apologized for these comments.

Most likely, the creator was not referring to the number of Minecraft players (which must be very many), but rather that the original identity of the game has been lost by giving more importance to characters like Sonic than to the creation of the players themselves and your creativity. In the same way, these statements are debatable, despite the discussion on Notch’s Twitter account revolving around his comments after he stopped being involved in the development of the game.
