With arcade-heavy titles like Resogun, Housemarque had made a name for itself above all among PlayStation players. Most recently, the studio worked on the very ambitious Battle Royale title Stormdivers, but this will not be released for the time being.

As the makers of Super Stardust and Resogun have now confirmed, the development work on Stormdivers has now been put on hold; the Battle Royale game is no longer being pursued, at least for the time being.
Housemarque also gave one reason in this context: They want to concentrate their efforts on a previously unannounced and even larger project. In a statement, CEO Ilari Kuittinen said of this still mysterious game that it was "the studio's largest and most ambitious title to date."
The big new title will be developed in collaboration with a partner who has not yet been confirmed. At Housemarque itself, 80 employees are now involved in the development after Stormdivers was hired.
"It's great that the entire company can now work together to deliver this game. It will define Housemarque's next evolution," said Kuittinen. "We have never developed anything on this scale before."
The phrase about the "next stage of evolution" could mean a next-gen development. Given the history of the studio, the PS5 could be served with a big title, so the ominous partner might also be Sony. We'll keep you up to date.
