Two sources have released new clues about Apple’s upcoming release schedule, and there are differences between them. On the one hand, the Economic Daily News of China reports a growth in the activity of suppliers from this country to New versions of AirPods and “At least” new MacBook Pro during the second half of 2021. This is reflected in media like AppleInsider.
On the other hand, we have another report from Ming-Chi Kuo sent to investors in which a longer term plan is pointed out, with AirPods Pro 2 launch planned for next year. If these are the same AirPods that the Economic Daily News mentions, we have a date gap that can exceed six months.
A well-distributed release schedule
There is another possibility: that the first source is talking about third-generation AirPods (the non-Pro ones) coming out in the fall. It would fulfill exactly what Mark Gurman predicted a few weeks ago: conventional third-generation AirPods in a few months and AirPods Pro 2 in the fall. This would make it possible to adapt the information from all these sources.
A rhythm of outings with these dates would also help the growth of the accessories division continued its good pace. The launch of the Beats Studio Buds would also make its contribution by offering a slightly cheaper alternative to the AirPods Pro.
As for the MacBook Pro, no other information is detailed beyond a slight increase in activity from the suppliers of its components is expected. This should mean that the long-awaited renewal of the lineup is approaching with a chip that would outperform the M1 in some ways. We will see.
