We continue with Phil Spencer’s intervention on the IGN podcast because he made several headlines. One of them is the way you see the present Xbox. The manager assures us that the brand is having its best moment, a few words with which I deeply agree.
However there is additional information that the manager has provided and that leaves us with a clearer view of why some of the decisions were made for the Xbox One relaunch with the X and S models and how these two machines laid the foundation for the Xbox Series models.
Lessons Learned with Xbox One
Those words are no more and no less than Spencer’s experience, the launch of which was for many a turning point for the Xbox brand and almost a nail in the coffin for it.
It was such an important moment for the cashier team, what did we stand for? What did we want to be as we went along? How did we want to bet on each other? It was obviously a difficult year for the brand, there was a lot to learn.
The things I see in the team now… how we listen to the community, how we challenge ourselves, not staying in the bubble we’re in, but trying to innovate and evolve. I think a lot of who we are today is really thanks to this first year of Xbox One launch, where we got a real cold dose of reality in terms of focusing not on what customers wanted…. It did not work.
