Mortal Kombat 11: No more DLC, start work on a new game

DLC, game, Kombat, Mortal, start, work

The current beat’em-up offshoot Mortal Kombat 11 has been up to mischief since 2019 and has been expanded with new content ever since. But that’s the end of it in the future!

Developer NetherRealm has now officially confirmed that there will be no more DLC support for the fighting game Mortal Kombat 11. Background: The studio wants to focus more on working on a new title.

Most recently, NetherRealm brought the additional characters Rambo, Mileena and Rain into the current game as part of “Kombat Pack 2” – it will now be the last new fighters that Mortal Kombat 11 received after the original release.

“NetherRealm is now focused on the next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, more content for the game, including new characters, has come to an end,” said a corresponding tweet.

Mortal Kombat 11 has sold over 8 million times since it was released in 2019. In contrast to the competition Tekken 7 (2017) and Street Fighter V (2016), both of which are still receiving additional content, the discontinuation of further DLC content feels quite early on. Rumors that Ash Williams could still come into the game as a fighter are not confirmed.

What the new game from NetherRealm is about is not known. So you have to wait for a potential announcement of Mortal Kombat 12 until further notice – should one come at all.
