The Scarlet Witch is dead and it looks like Magneto killed her

Dead, killed, Magneto, Scarlet, Witch

The most anticipated event in the current X-Men franchise is undoubtedly infernobut before we get to the point where Mystique burns all of our things up with her anger, we have The Trial of Magneto. And now we know exactly what’s wrong with him. Add your Law & Order sound here!

Last week’s pages SWORD # 6, the master of magnetism has been seen hanging out with the last person you would expect to be invited to a big mutant party: Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.

Wanda is the # 1 mutant public enemy for her role in M-Day when, in a moment of mental crisis, she magically deprived 90% of the world’s mutants of their superpowers. Then, to make matters worse, it was revealed that she and her brother Quicksilver weren’t actually Magneto’s children. and they weren’t really mutants. In Krakoa she is known as the Great Pretender.

But as Magneto admitted to her SWORD # 6, Krakoa is a place where mutants are given the chance to lead a new life free from the transgressions of their past. And maybe it will be part of his new life that after all the years he and Wanda thought they were related, he should admit that he still loves her like family. It was touching.

And this week X factor, it all went to hell.

What else happens on the pages of our favorite comics? We’ll tell you. Welcome to Monday Funnies, Polygon’s weekly list of the books our comics editor liked over the past week. It’s partly society pages about the lives of superheroes, partly reading recommendations, partly “Check out this cool art”. There may be some spoilers. There may not be enough context. But there will be great comics. (And if you missed the last issue, read this.)

Eyeboy, Speed and Prodigy encounter the red boots of someone who appears to have passed out in a Krakoan garden. Eyeboy is desperate to keep Speed from getting any closer in X-Factor # 10 (2021).

The body of the Scarlet Witch was found dead in a Krakoan vestibule. Magneto wasn’t present, but the problem suggests that act is seen in again The Trial of Magneto. One of Krakoa’s greatest heroes is now being accused of breaking one of his most sacred laws: do not kill people.

More than a dozen DC superheroes and villains stand around the hospice bed of the late comic book writer Denny O'Neil in Green Arrow 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular (2021).

The best part of DC Comics’ Green Arrow Anniversary Special is definitely a touching 6-page tribute comic to the late writer and editor Denny O’Neil, written by his son Larry. It is not an exaggeration to say that if you are under 70 and like Batman, O’Neil is why this is.

DC has all six sides of the comic read online for free.

Aaron Fischer ponders how he's helping people because that's what Captain America would do when looking at a mural of Sam Wilson in his Captain America costume in United States of Captain America # 1 (2021).

United States of Captain America is a new miniseries in which a mysterious murderer travels the country trying to kill people wearing the Captain America badge to do good – so of course Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson are on the case, with a new one ” Captain America “introduced in each issue, with a backstory telling their origins. This week was Aaron Fischer, an unfamiliar queer boy protecting the innocent over America’s railways.

A data page from Eternals # 5 (2021) states, “Perhaps best thought of as the engine room of planet Earth. And as the runaway weather, impending destruction of the planet, and your insanity prove, the engines can't take it. Yeah, I've seen Star Trek too. I <3 DS9.

I can’t remember if this is the first data page I’ve ever featured in Monday Funnies, but check it out. I’m just watching Star Trek: Deep Space 9 now for the first time. And the giant celestial engine that powers the earth in Marvel Comics loves too Space 9.

Azrael wields his flaming sword of vengeance on the moonlit roof of the Monasterio Sant Alvard in Europe in Catwoman 2021 Annual.

Batman-affiliated vigilante Azrael is like the Catholic Church – you’ll never be down with anything he does, but the aesthetics … you have to respect the aesthetic commitment. Maybe it’s just that I got addicted nightfall Batman comic era early, but I’m always at least a little excited to see Azrael.

TSWA is the sound effect when Beta Ray Bill raises his ax. SPLOK is the sound when in Beta Ray Bill # 4 (2021) he halves a huge extraterrestrial something with all its power.

Daniel Warren Johnson wins the Sound Effects of the Week Award for beautifully rendered OUT of Bill raising his ax and the absolutely visceral SPLOK bringing her down. Words cannot express.
