A new trailer for the upcoming Vampire Masquerade video game confirms that it will be delayed until next year.
Bad news for those hoping to get their hands on the third installment in the Vampire: The Masquerade series. Developer Big Bad Wolf Studio and publisher Nacon have announced that the game, titled Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, will not reach the previously announced release date of 2021. Instead, the game will debut for the previous generation consoles and current in February 2022.
However, not all bad news. Along with the news of the delay, Big Bad Wolf Studio released a new trailer for the game that features a new character named Galeb. According to editor Nacon, Galeb is one of the oldest and most feared vampires living in the city of Boston. Having traveled the world and accumulated a great deal of wealth and power, Galeb is left wanting something he has lost, or perhaps something he never had in the first place. He is one of three playable Swansong characters whose intertwined stories will decide the fate of Boston. You can see the trailer for his character below:
Swansong was announced in October 2019 on PDXCON. News about the game was scant until the summer of 2020, when the 2021 release date was announced alongside news that the title would be available on next-gen systems. This release date ran until last month when a new trailer debuted on PC Gaming Show that featured a female vampire, possibly one of three other playable characters the game will focus on, on a murderous quest for her little girl. .
Swansong will be an RPG based on the fifth edition of the board game Vampire: The Masquerade. You will use the rules of the most recent edition of the board to establish a rich role-playing game full of history and intrigue. While it has been revealed to take place in Boston, not much else is known about the story the game will tell. Of course, Swansong isn’t the only upcoming title in the World of Darkness universe. Bloodhunt, a free Battle Royale set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, is currently in its Closed Alpha and is expected later this year.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will now be released in February 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
