Dark Souls 3 has officially been added to the growing roster of Xbox Series X titles with FPS Boost, increasing its frame rate to 60 FPS.
Since it was announced earlier this year, Xbox has improved tons of games with its FPS Boost feature on Xbox Series X. In May, it increased the frame rates of more than 70 games, including Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, Star Wars. . Battlefront 2, Titanfall 2, Fallout 4, Alien Isolation, Far Cry 5, and many more.
Today, Xbox added another name to the growing roster of titles with FPS Boost, with Dark Souls 3 now officially part of the lineup. FromSoftware’s Acclaimed Fantasy Title Now Playable at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X | S, allowing players to navigate Lothric and get crushed by its unwelcoming inhabitants along with much smoother frame rates.
Considering that Dark Souls has always been a series based on precise combat and reading enemy animations, the jump from Dark Souls 3’s original 30 FPS to the newly added 60 FPS is sure to be welcomed by the fanbase. It can be downloaded via a new update for Xbox Series X players | Yes, and Microsoft noted on Twitter that users should restart their console once it is downloaded to take full advantage of the addition of FPS Boost.

For those considering jumping into the game for the first time, Dark Souls 3 once again asks players to explore a hostile world filled with challenging bosses, haunting enemies, and plenty of cryptic NPCs to meet. This time, they will embark on a quest for the Kingdom of Lothric, with the goal of rekindling the First Flame. Dark Souls 3 completed the story established in the first two Dark Souls titles, offering many new terrifyingly tough bosses, as well as new environments, weapons, and enemies. It was acclaimed upon release, and critics celebrated its gripping combat, brutal difficulty, and sinister world.
Running the game at 60 FPS will apparently be good practice for FromSoftware’s upcoming AAA fantasy game, with Elden Ring scheduled for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in January 2022. The latest trailer for the World action game caused quite a stir at launch, showcasing a giant world full of ancient monsters, great boss fights, and tons of amazing scenery. The game was created in collaboration with legendary Game of Thrones author George RR Martin, who recently revealed that he worked on the game’s history several years ago. It appears to be an expansion of the ideas of previous FromSoftware games, with Hidetaka Miyazaki calling it an “evolution” of the Dark Souls series.
Dark Souls 3 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
