It’s an understatement to say that the latest edition of Oddworld Inhabitants made us love them. Unfortunately, his condition at launch will have dampened our enthusiasm. But the developers promised a fix, and they keep their word.

Oddworld: Soulstorm hosted a final update that fixes most of the bugs and issues that led to its release. On the Facebook page of the “We Just Like Games” podcast, Lorne Lanning reached out to Abe fans to tell them the finishing touches were right.
On April 6th we committed to our community to continue working on Oddworld: Soulstorm. In return, they were amazing. You have given us valuable feedback that has helped us find, rebuild, and fix issues / bugs. We have released seven updates since our first release.
We’re excited to announce that Oddworld: Soulstorm’s gameplay has been refined across all platforms. No game is bug-free, but the version that you can download now on PS5, PS4, and the Epic Games Store is one that we are proud of and that you will love.
If you like great platform, action and adventure games that are full of suspense with a captivating story that gives you a new perspective on the world around you, we hope you give Oddworld: Soulstorm a try.
The list of changes to this adorable platform puzzle game follows this writing:
Important fixes – the list
- Possibility to remove the HUD: Many die-hard Oddworld fans have asked us to create the option to remove the HUD. They didn’t want to know where each mud was in relation to Abe, or how much health each picture was left.
- Full Slig AI fixes: Sligs are no longer stuck or frozen in a strange state. They now react more precisely to sounds and are more determined and behave less randomly.
- Abes movement code set with precision: Controlling Abe seems more natural. His movements are instantly in your direction.
- Platform: Abe’s ability to jump, grab, and grab bars and ledges has been improved. Moving and moving forward is done in a more fluid and natural motion.
- Trophies: Soulstorm’s trophy system, which offers trophy hunters over 50 hours of gameplay, has been improved.
- Show: Abe’s aiming accuracy has been improved, making it possible to start and ignite fires, solve puzzles, and go on the offensive more effectively without wasting valuable resources.
- Abe Saute: Fixed issues with Abe jumping out of levels. It was relatively rare, but it happened and required a reset.
- Haptic feedback on the PS5: We promised an immersive tactile experience for PS5. It took us three months, but now you can feel what was intended with the PS5 controller. Abe’s heartbeat can be seen during periods of high stress, along with other important haptic possibilities (explosions, falling feet, falling structures, jumps and landings, etc.). It makes the experience more immersive.
- Furtivit / Infiltration: Soulstorm builds on the foundation of the Oddworld games, but our fans have asked us to improve the stealth and infiltration experience. We’ve added more risk / reward sets that really make levels like Phat Station shine.
- Progress Blocker: Our players have found progress blockers. We deleted them all.
- Improved workplace level: The fans told us the yards level was too tough and we spent time improving the level balance.
- Airship level: Many players have told us that this level is a big problem in terms of balancing. We corrected the section where it is extremely difficult to handle mortars.
- Correction options: We fixed many individual minor annoyances that were collectively hindering the gaming experience, such as disabling mines, jumping mudokons in and out of lockers, stuck saw blades, and other items.
- Improved keyboard layout (PC): We have developed an improved keyboard mapping system.
- Missing film sequences: some players experienced missing cinematics. We were able to discover the bug that required activating a certain set of trains and we disabled that bug.
Remember itOddworld: Soulstorm is available for PS4, PS5 and PC. Its physical console editions, including a not terrible collector’s item, arrived a few days ago.
