DOOM Eternal’s next update will include Horde mode

From an official tweet from Identification software we were able to learn about the company’s plans for DOOM Eternal. That way the game will have a single player horde mode in August, at first glance. I enclose the translation of the study letter. Well, the words they throw out at the community are loving, grateful, and committed to DOOM as a game.

An update for our amazing DOOM Eternal community,

With the end of E3 2021 and the release of our Update 6, we want to share our work and plans for DOOM Eternal for the months to come.

In March, we marked DOOM Eternal’s anniversary with the launch of its second campaign expansion, “The Ancient Gods – Part 2”. Together, the two expansions of “The Ancient Gods” bring some of the most exciting and engaging gameplay the series has ever offered, as well as an epic conclusion to the Slayer saga that began in DOOM (2016). “The Ancient Gods – Part One” is out on Nintendo Switch and we plan to release “Part Two” later this year.

On June 29, we were excited to release Update 6. You can read the full list of additions and improvements in the Killers Club, but we’re especially excited to bring new graphics options to the next generation of consoles, as well as visual enhancements with ray tracing for Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC with compatible hardware. All three updates include master level Taras Nabad, with new challenges, rewards for standard and classic modes. BATTLEMODE players can take advantage of a new map, as well as improvements that should improve server performance and alleviate issues across all platforms.

As many of you know, we are planning to release a free Invasion mode for the game. However, due to the pandemic and remote working, development progress has been affected at this point. Over time, we’ve seen and heard how many of you have enjoyed the gameplay and combat available in Expansions and Main Levels. With these factors in mind, we decided to shift our focus away from Invasion mode to creating a brand new single player mode: Horde. We hope that the Horde mode will provide more diversity and the challenges you are looking for in the game. In addition, the team continues to work on a facelift for BATTLEMODE which includes a more competitive ranking structure, a series of adjustments to balance and a new card. We hope to share more about this at QuakeCon in August.

Finally, I want to say how proud I am of everything our teams at id and Bethesda have achieved. It’s incredibly hard to believe we haven’t seen each other in person since DOOM Eternal launched over fifteen months ago and, beyond the hurdles created by the pandemic and remote working, dozens of updates. day and additions have been created, tested, released, and supported from our homes. Above all, we have continued to be inspired and energized by your incredible support and enthusiasm for the game. In the name of all, thank you.
