Today marks the sixth anniversary of the sad death of the former president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata. For this reason, we want to remember one more year the work of this great manager of the company from the web.
As many of you will remember, Iwata died on July 11, 2015 from a tumor in the bile duct after having undergone an operation a year earlier that aimed to remove this tumor. The news of his death shocked the whole world, as he will always be remembered as one of the most important personalities in the video game industry, much loved by Nintendo fans and the gaming community in general.
Regarding its trajectory, we remind you that, after inaugurating HAL Laboratory and reaping several successes there, Iwata caught the attention of Nintendo’s president at the time, Hiroshi Yamauchi, who asked him to lead Nintendo’s corporate planning division. From this position, he helped Nintendo continue to grow until Yamauchi chose him as his successor.
After this, Iwata lived as president of Nintendo moments of great success such as the launch of Nintendo DS and Wii, as well as subsequent releases of Nintendo 3DS y Wii U. Don’t forget that Iwata also contributed to the planning of what we now know as the Nintendo Switch before he passed away.
