Last year, Sony announced a new God of War game, but it didn’t show anything but a logo. Fast-forward to 2021, and all the fans who know about the new God of War is that it will be a cross-generation game coming to both PS4 and PS5, releasing sometime in 2022. However, it seems like God Fans of War will soon have a chance to learn more about the next game in the long-running series, if recent leaks are any indication.
According to Reddit user QuimSix, who accurately leaked the PlayStation State of Play date, a trailer for God of War: Ragnarok will be released sometime in August. They claim to have obtained this information from the same source that leaked the PlayStation State of Play date to them. They also said they would “not be surprised” if the God of War: Ragnarok trailer event also featured a new look for the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto 5.
Obviously, fans should take this information with a grain of salt, but it really wouldn’t be that surprising if a God of War: Ragnarok reveal happened sooner rather than later. The reputed leaker Shpeshal_Nick previously believed that the gameplay of God of War: Ragnarok would be shown on PlayStation State of Play last week, only for that to not work, so perhaps his information was a bit misplaced.
And you have to remember that the original release date for God of War: Ragnarok was once set for late 2021. Considering this and the fact that God of War came to PS4 three years ago at this point, it’s safe to assume that God of War: Ragnarok has been in the works for quite some time and is very likely nearing the end of its development cycle.
Meanwhile, QuimSix believes that something other than God of War: Ragnarok will be shown soon. It looks like fans will also be getting some new updates for Horizon: Forbidden West soon. They stated that updates to Horizon: Forbidden West may not necessarily happen in August as they believe to be the case in God of War: Ragnarok, so fans should keep that in mind.
Whenever Sony decides to release a proper trailer for God of War: Ragnarok, we hope it will answer some of the lingering questions about the game. As well as offering fans a glimpse into the gameplay, it would be nice if the official title for God of War: Ragnarok was revealed. While many have referred to it as God of War Ragnarok, the game does not currently have an official title at the time of writing.
God of War: Ragnarok is in development for PS4 and PS5.
