GameMill Entertainment has announced through Twitter that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a fighting game in the style of Super Smash but with the characters of the American channel, will launch this fall. They’ve already shared a very interesting preliminary character roster and it looks like there will be more to come.
Given that many of these characters are rather from the 90s, it seems that they will go for an audience of a certain age, since there are only two characters from new cartoons for now. Both are from The Loud House, while the rest come pretty much from Nickelodeon’s more popular past.
90s nostalgia
For now the list is as follows:
- Michelangelo (Tortas Ninja)
- Leonardo (Ninja Turtles)
- Nigel Thornberry (Los Thornberrys)
- Toast Man (Ren & Stimpy)
- Sponge Bob (Sponge Bob)
- Sandy Cheeks (Spongebob)
- Patrick Star (Spongebob)
- Oblina (Real Monsters)
- Lucy Loud (The Loud House)
- Lincoln Loud (The Loud House)
- Helga (Hey Arnold!)
- Reptar (Adventures in diapers)
- Zim (Invasor Zim)
- Danny Phantom (Danny Phantom)
The community has reacted relatively well to the announcement with many asking about other characters and their voice actors. Certainly without the original actors much is lost, but GameMill has not clarified this detail.
Also, the cover art has been shared but with silhouettes instead of characters, and we can at least distinguish Korra from Avatar.
The development of the game is in the hands of Ludosity Games and Fair Play Labs and is scheduled for this fall and will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and Switch.
