Loki: So the story of the new MCU villain continues in phase 4

The season finale of “Loki” brought not only the multiverse, but also a new adversary into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But when and where will we see Kang again in phase 4?

The season finale of “Loki“brought new momentum to das Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only that the multiverse has finally been opened, which means serious consequences for the Avengers, we also met the new big bad guy with Kang for phases 4 and 5 know.

Kang has not yet been named, instead he is only referred to as “He who remains”. As he himself reveals, he is a scientist from the 31st century who came across various parallel universes, each of which also contained alternative versions of himself. It quickly became clear that some of these kangs were more evil than himself.

Sylvie killed “The One Who Remains”, but in this story he only served as an introduction for Kang and as a catalyst for the Multiverse storyline. Spider-Man and Doctor Strange – The multiverse on the big screen

The title “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” already revealed that phase 4 of the MCU would address the multiverse. Now “Loki” has paved the way for this storyline and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” will already deal with the Multiverse and Doctor Strange.

However, it must be borne in mind that there are numerous new creative ideas, enemies and allies awaiting us in the multiverse. A multiverse film is not always a Kang film, which is why Kang is unlikely to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man and Doctor Strange films.

Spider-Man will eventually face opponents and Spider-Men from other universes and Strange meets Scarlet Witch, which makes the plot out “WandaVision“continues. Are we expecting a long kang break?

Various Marvel titles after “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” are already known, but we only know that Kang will play an important role in one film. In “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” Kang is supposed to take on the role of the villain, which suggests that Kang expects us at most in small post-credits appearances, as Thanos once did.

On the other hand, Kang differs from Thanos in that there are numerous variants of him. So even if Ant-Man and Wasp defeat him, other kangs are still waiting to take over the world. Also, we could expect Kang variants that don’t look like Jonathan Majors.

Iron Lad: The Heroic Kang?

Iron Lad makes an excellent Kang variant that would play an important role in the course of Marvel history (Kangs Marvel-Comic-Ursprünge we have already explained to you elsewhere). Iron Lad is the 16-year-old version of Kang, whose real name is Nathaniel Richards. The young Nathaniel does not later want to become the dreaded conqueror Kang and instead founds the Young Avengers to stop his older self.

Since time travel played a big role in the comics with Kang, but was already used in the MCU in “Avengers: Endgame”, Iron Lad in the films and series would probably be more of a young variant, like we already have one met young Loki in episode 5. We know that many varieties of kang are evil, but of course not all, so the Avengers and Young Avengers could end up fighting the bad kangs with Iron Lad and other good kangs.

It is at least already known that Marvel is making great strides towards the Young Avengers. Wiccan and Speed, the children of Scarlet Witch and Vision, were featured in the Disney + series “WandaVision“Introduced Cassie Lang, the daughter of Ant-Man Scott Lang, through the time jump in”Avengers: Endgame“The right age to become the heroine Stature. She is in the comics with Iron Lad.

The fact that the role of Cassie Lang for the upcoming “Ant-Man” film with Kathryn Newton is also a clear indication that her character will play a bigger role in the future.

Kang’s important role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” therefore fits well. Presumably Cassie becomes Stature here and Ant-Man takes on Kang. If Iron Lad also appears here, the Young Avengers could be founded and Cassie and Nathaniel become a couple.

Perhaps the young Nathaniel was introduced to the MCU at this point and a secret made out of the fact that he was a variant of Kang. Once Ant-Man learns that his daughter is with his enemy’s younger self, there is excellent potential for conflict.

More Kang in “Loki” Season 2

The series “Ms. Marvel” could certainly introduce Nathaniel to the MCU, after all, the young heroine will also become a member of the Young Avengers in the further course. A reunion with Jonathan Majors as Kang awaits us, apart from possible guest appearances and his big role in the 3rd “Ant-Man” film in Season 2 of “Loki”.

Filming should start in January 2022, so it would be possible to start in autumn 2022. In this way, the second season would come before “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania”, although Loki might be dealing with a different Kang variant than Scott Lang a little later in “Ant-Man”.

Since Disney is canceling the San Diego Comic-Con and the D23-Expo, during which Marvel announced numerous titles from phases 4 and 5 in 2019, has been postponed from autumn 2021 to 2022, we will probably not expect any further information about Kangs this year Return. However, the multiverse should already provide enough variety in the MCU.
