Since the announcement of the postponement to 2021 at the end of last year CrossfireX was very discreet. Smilegate continues to work on its free-to-play FPS and this week revealed a graphics upgrade as well as three new cards. In addition, the South Korean studio has confirmed that the title will be released in 2021! Indeed, in a message posted on the game’s website, it clearly mentions a “near future release this year” at the end of the article.
A bright graphic update
The developers first described the visual upgrade that was done in the beta. And the least we can say is the difference is striking. Mainly there is a very nice job on the lights and reflections. Comparative shots were taken by Smilegate and examples are given below. The pictures on the left were taken before the update, the ones on the right afterwards.
Three new cards presented
The developers have also lifted the veil on three new multiplayer maps. The first, Babylon, is available for 30-player mode, where two teams compete against each other to take control of key points. The second, Invasion, is a card for Specter mode. This is where the battles take place against the other team, but also against the invisible ghosts. Finally, the third Babylon Lab concerns the new infection mode. You have to survive against the threat of other “infected” players up to 16 participants.

Finally, Smilegate has partially redesigned the “Tactical Growth” system in certain modes. So with this game mechanics you could equip yourself with improvements of all kinds twice during a game. Now you can do this three times. As a reminder, Studio Remedy Entertainment is developing a solo campaign for itself CrossfireX.
